A Comprehensive Approach to Dentistry and Beauty

Other than a Reconstructive Plastic Surgeon there is no other Physician who has received more education regarding the musculature of the face; a dentist spends at least 2 years of their education studying how the muscles work and their relationship to each other.

A Dentist is trained in giving injections; Dr. Karen Burns will be doing your treatment, not a nurse or technician.

A Dentist is able to “numb” the area if needed; you will have little to no discomfort.

Convenience of having any procedures done in conjunction with your professional dental cleanings.

If you wish to be to be discreet regarding your enhancement – the dental office is your perfect place!

The practice of dentistry encompasses an amazing array of services and procedures, all with a common goal: to help you preserve your natural teeth as long possible, ensure your oral health, and keep you looking and feeling great throughout your life.

There’s so much that can be done these days to improve the appearance if a person’s smile-at any age.  Many people only go to the dentist when something is wrong.  That is truly a shame, because they are missing out on as many preventive services that can save discomfort-and expense-down the road.  Regular dental visits are essential to make sure oral health problems-from tooth decay to oral cancer- are detected and treated in a timely manner.  Some individuals may need to see the dentist more often than others to stay on top of problems like plaque buildup and gum disease, but everyone should go at least twice per year.

Your regular dental visit will include a thorough oral exam to check the health of your teeth and gums; and oral cancer screening to spot any suspicious signs early; and a professional hygiene appointment to remove stubborn deposits and make your teeth look and feel great. So don’t miss out on the many benefits dentistry offers you and your family!

At our office, you will be greeted by highly skilled, smiling staff motivated to give gentle, quality care.  Our practice is not just cleaning your teeth, taking X-rays and sending you home.  We want to get to know you.  Our goal is to provide every effort to calm the fears many of you have about going to the dentist.  Your comfort is our number one concern!

Your Smile Makeover
You are in charge of your smile you need to communicate exactly what you don’t like about your smile and how you’d like it to be different. Before the first consultation, give some thought to the following questions:

1. What do you like or dislike about the color, size, shape and spacing you your teeth?

2. Are you pleased with how much your teeth show, both when you smile and when your lips are relaxed?

3. Do you want teeth that are perfectly aligned and a bright “Hollywood White”, or would you prefer a more natural look with slight color, shape and shade variations?

4. Would you like more or less of your gums to show when you smile? You can bring in pictures of smiles you like, don’t like, and/or photos of the way your own smile used to look, if that’s the result you are aiming for. Now is the time to get started on creating a smile that will make you feel as good as you look!

Botox Cosmetic

Botox Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medicine that is injected into muscles and used to improve the look of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults 18 to 70 years of age for a short period of time (temporary). It works by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces wrinkles. The muscle activity that causes those lines to form between the brows is reduced.

Myths Associated with BOTOX

Myth – Botox is a new drug.

Fact – Botox has been used for over 40 years.

Myth – Botox is a poison.
Fact – There is NO live bacteria; it is a purified protein

Myth – I will have a frozen un-natural look and loss of expression
Fact – With proper treatment the muscle will be relaxed, not frozen.

Myth – I will lose sensation and will have numbness where injected.
Fact – It does not affect the sensory nerves.

Myth – Botox works better on women.
Fact – Botox produces the same results for men & women; over one third of reported Botox users are men.

Temporary Injectable Fillers

Temporary Injectable Fillers help replace the Hyaluraonic Acid that your skin has lost, adding volume to smooth away facial wrinkles and folds. Juverderm XC is formulated with lidocaine, a common anesthetic, to provide a more comfortable experience during and after treatment. Juvederm XC provides the smooth, natural-looking results you expect with the improved comfort you want.

FACTS ABOUT TEMPORARY FILLERS (Juvederm XC, Juvederm Voluma, Belotero, Restylane, and Radiesse)

  • Hyaluronic acid is commonly used in moisturizers and cosmetics because of its efficiency at holding onto water.
  • While a hyaluronic acid filler is being naturally degraded, what remains of the filler attracts water from the body. This function allows it to hold its shape even longer and able to maintain its volume till it almost fully degrades.
  • Your skin stores the vast majority (50%) of hyaluronic acid.
  • It is degradable and dissipates over time- typical results are 9-12 months.
  • The body has its own system for absorbing hyaluronic acid; it disappears over time without a trace!
  • Age related facial changes are not affected because they are temporary

Don’t Just Take Our Word For It.

“I love this office! Everyone is so friendly. Dr. Burns is so kind and takes time to get to know her patients!! She’s honest; doesn’t try to sell you on unnecessary services. I feel at ease going to my appointments knowing that I am in good hands!”

“First of all- i almost never write reviews but couldn’t help but share my good fortune to have found Dr. Burns ! I’m very particular about my dentist and dreaded finding a new one when I moved here from Northern VA. I was SO lucky to have found her – from cleanings to a pain free crown, I have never had anything less than a 5 star experience with her and her staff. I have absolute trust in her and, because of that, recently decided to try her Facial Aesthetics services. I’d considered trying fillers for years but was always nervous to try. I knew she would take good care of me and I have had AMAZING results. I let her make the recommendations as to what would work best for me and I could not be happier. I’m turning 57 this week and because of her I think I can shave a few years off that number!! I had no pain or bruising and the results IMHO are better than ANY before & afters I’ve seen on the internet! If you are even thinking about it, please discuss with her – I wish I had a lot sooner!!!!”

“So thankful to have found this dentist. So kind, patient, super clean and friendly, very obviously concerned with patient experience and comfort. So impressed with the level of care, professionalism and costumer service. 10/10 recommend !!”

“Very impressed and felt right at home. I was in search for a new dentistry office and found Karen Burns DMD through my insurance provider. I called, was able to get an appointment that week and thoroughly enjoyed my first experience. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is in search for a new office! The staff and Dr. Shoopak were so friendly and made me feel very comfortable the moment i stepped in!”

“Dr. Burns and her staff are so nice and friendly. This has been the best dentist office i have ever been to. They make you feel like they care because they really do.”

“If the thought of visiting the dentist stresses you out, this group of people will change that. Dr. Shoopak was wonderful. I just felt very cared for. I can’t say enough positive things about my experience. They are gentle and kind and sincere….and so supportive. The entire staff makes you feel like you are at home. I am so happy to have found them.”
